Brand Identity

01 Overview

While the Western wellness market is saturated with tropical motifs, Javanese culture offers a different layer of Ceremonial Rigor and Spiritual Politeness (Unggah Ungguh).

The Ritual of Laku: Originally exclusive rituals for Javanese royalty, these traditions focus on the maturation of the physical (raga), mind (cipta), and spirit (jiwa). My goal was to articulate this "Traditional-Care Approach" on the website, shifting the perception from a simple massage to a holistic life-cycle ritual.

The Gunungan Philosophy: The visual anchor of the brand is the Gunungan (Mountain of Life). In Javanese cosmology, it symbolizes the universe and the source of life. By utilizing this in the logo, we positioned Jawa Spa as a "Cosmic Axis" of wellness in Lodz—a place where the chaos of urban life meets the ordered serenity of ancient tradition.

02 Design

Cultural Translation over Decoration To introduce Javanese wellness to Poland, we had to look past the surface. My strategy was to move beyond the generic "tropical" aesthetic of Bali and instead articulate the specific, sophisticated depth of Central Javanese heritage. The project wasn't just about a logo; it was about building a "Traditional-Care" system—translating the Javanese concept of Tata Krama (politeness and order) into a premium brand experience for a high-end European audience.

03 Approach

A System of Living Vibrations I developed a visual identity rooted in the Gunungan—the Javanese symbol of the "Mountain of Life." This choice served as a strategic anchor, positioning the brand as a cosmic axis of health and spirituality.

The Logogram (The Echo): The Gunungan is reimagined through a series of rhythmic waves. This "Echo of Positivity" represents the ripple effect of wellness—a vibration that begins at the core of the guest and expands outward. It transforms a static cultural icon into a dynamic symbol of energy.

The Supergraphic (Topography of Prosperity): To create an immersive environment, I designed a landscape supergraphic that depicts the rolling topography of the Javanese highlands. This asset acts as a visual metaphor for prosperity and lush abundance, providing a sense of place even within an urban Polish setting.
